Volunteer Opportunity to Represent NE Nationally

Hello NPTA members,

I want to tell you about a unique opportunity for an NPTA member to become involved in the future direction of physical therapist practice!

APTA’s strategic plan includes “elevating the quality of care provided by PTS and PTAs”, specifically “expanding access to physical therapy in primary care settings and employer health and wellness programs.” In keeping with the Association’s strategic plan, APTA is embarking on an exciting new venture to introduce population health to the practice of physical therapy and has established a workgroup to guide the effort.

To increase national awareness and adoption, APTA seeks to establish a population health champion in each state chapter.  The designated champion should have an interest in population health and be willing to help spread the word.  They do not need to be an expert. We hope you or someone you know will be interested in advancing this work. If you are interested, please contact Grace Knott, current NPTA President, with you desire to serve on this committee and be our champion for the state of Nebraska!

The inaugural meeting will be on June 18th from 12:00 – 1:00 pm CST.  I will send out the calendar invite to connect to the conference call to the member selected for this special meeting for Population Health Champions.

If you have an interest in population health but are unable to commit to being a Population Health Champion,  sign up for the Council on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Wellness council and then subscribe to the Population Health Forum by clicking on “Population Health” forum’s link and then on the heart next to the left of your screen.

The APTA is on fire these days and it is an exciting time to part of this great association.  Don’t hesitate to call me with questions.  Please respond to me by June 1st if you are interested in being our Population Health Champion for Nebraska and represent us nationally!

Sincerely yours,

Grace Knott PT, NPTA President
