Public Hearing for PT Regulations is set for Oct 7

Dear Members,
Please see email below regarding an upcoming hearing on proposed changes to the rules and regulations governing the practice of physical therapy in Nebraska. This is not a practice act change but the rules/regulations connected with our practice act. The proposed changes are mainly cleaning up the language of the document BUT it also includes new rules/regulations regarding dry needling. We are thinking we might get some opposition to these regulations from the chiropractors so we would appreciate if we could get a few physical therapists to attend this hearing who are skilled in dry needling.
ALSO, you can provide comments regarding the proposed changes BEFORE the October 7th hearing. Please see below on how you can access the proposed changes to the rules/regulations governing physical therapists and provide comment.
I thank you in advance for you advocacy. I will be attending the hearing and would appreciate other members to attend with me. Please let me know if you are interested and able to attend.
Sincerely yours,
Grace Knott PT

Subject: FW: Notice of Public Hearing for Physical Therapy Regulations
Good morning,
You have been identified as a stakeholder that may have interest in the regulation review of Physical Therapy. This email strives to provide more information about the regulation promulgation process in the State of Nebraska. As a reminder the public hearing for Physical Therapy Regulations is set for October 7, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Gold’s Building, Room 534.
This is the link to the Secretary of State’s website for tracking regulations: https://www.nebraska.gov/nesos/rules-and-regs/regtrack/index.cgi
Note: An electronic copy of the Proposed regulations, Fiscal Impact Statement, and Strikethrough copy, is made available for public viewing on the Secretary of State’s website.
NEXT STEPS: The next steps following the public hearing are:
- Board reviews hearing comments and may or may not recommend changes to the regulations based on the hearing comments; if substantial changes are recommended by the Board, a new public hearing is required
- Board of Health review
- Director of Public Health review
- Attorney General review
- Governor review
- File with Secretary of State
- 5 calendar days following the filing with the Secretary of State, the regulations are effective
Note: If during any of the above reviews (items #2-5), the reviewer does not approve, the process may need to start over.
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the process or if you would like to be removed from the interested parties/stakeholders list. Thanks!
